Located on property once owned by a project abutter, the Wales Solar site is built on cleared land that includes gentle slopes across almost 17 acres. The project generates nearly 3 megawatts of renewable energy from over 8,000 solar panels. The site is also equipped with a 1.5 MW / 3.1 MWh battery energy storage system, which enables the state of Massachusetts to receive renewable generation during times of high electricity demand. The project delivers power through the Massachusetts SMART program, but also participates in the Massachusetts Clean Peak Program, as well as ISO-NE wholesale capacity and ancillary service markets.
