Princeville in central Illinois is home to Swinghouse Solar, a 3.1 MW community solar farm connected to the Ameren utility grid. It occupies roughly 10 acres just outside of town and features more than 5,000 solar modules generating enough renewable energy to offset the needs of 400 or so average households. Residents can participate by enrolling in the Nexamp program, yielding annual savings on their electric expenses.
